I Want To Go On A Mission... What Now!?!?!?

Okay you decided you want to go on a Mission! That hardest part is over! You know that this is what you want and what the Lord wants but you might be wondering... what now???

1). Start your missionary application process online. Here is the website https://apps.lds.org/recentry/login

2). To complete the online application process you will need to meet with your Bishop who will give you an access code to finalize your online application process. The online application is simple information such as how old are you? What foreign language experience do you have? Did other family members serve missions and where? You will also need to submit a picture with your online application. This picture doesn't need to be professional but remember that a general authority will be looking at your picture to receive inspiration from the Lord as to where you will serve the next 18 months of your life. Have appropriate and modest clothing on, and a conservative hair cut in the photo you decide to submit. They have been known to ask Stake Presidents to request another photo for missionary applications if they feel their dress or hair style does not meet missionary standards.

3). You need to get a missionary medical physical. You will also need to get a dental exam. The missionary application page will have the forms that you will need to print out and have signed by your doctor and dentists. You will have to have your wisdom teeth taken out too.

4). When your online application is completed you will need to meet with your Stake President who will interview you, recommend you worthy to serve as a full time missionary and then submit your missionary application to Salt Lake City where they will issue your call that will be mailed to you within 10 to 30 days.

If you are wanting to leave on your mission at a specific time, plan at least 6 months ahead from when you start your papers to when you'll enter the MTC. Be proactive with your medical appointments and interviews with your Bishop and Stake President and your mission papers should be a breeze.
